Folks had been telling me for a while now that “your junior year of college will definitely be your hardest” but of course — that idea never actually sunk in for me until my junior year finally arrived.
With the strain of filling out endless internship and job applications, the grueling process of waiting to hear back from ’em all, and the growing anxiety of what the future will hold…
While simultaneously attempting to keep your life together in the present — it really never feels like there is ever enough time in the day…
But chile, you are not alone. We are in this struggle together. OKAY!
So instead of breaking down, doubting yourself, or giving up — here’s some tips to get you through the rest of this hectic semester:
Take a step back and BREATHE
In college — it is so easy to get caught up in just going through the motions.
There is literally always something to be done: a homework assignment, group presentation, extracurricular activity, application, etc.
But whether it’s just a solid ten minutes or even an afternoon — be sure to give yourself a little bit of time to simply step back, take things in, and breathe.
You don’t wanna overwhelm yourself or burn yourself out — trust me, a little calm goes a long way.
Utilize your resources
Don’t feel like you have to carry the weight of college all on your own — definitely use the resources around you!
Struggling with time management? Seek out an academic coach.
Lost in a tough class? Recruit a tutor.
Feeling depressed? Visit a campus counselor.
There’s so many great resources on college campuses that are specifically designed o help you — just take a little time out to find ’em and use ’em!
Relax and recharge
Try to work in at least one or two hobbies into your schedule that’ll help you relieve some of your pent-up stress and anxiety.
Whether it’s a trip to the gym, whipping up a delicious meal, or faithfully tuning in every week to your favorite TV show — just set aside some time to do something for you.
Something relaxing. Something you don’t have to think about. Something that you look forward to doing every single time.
Remember: what’s meant to be, will be.
Waiting to hear back on that big internship? Wondering if you’re gonna get that new job? Stressing about what you got on that tough midterm?
Don’t sweat it — be confident that the hard work you put in will surely pay off.
If one door closes, continue to have faith that another will open.
Remain confident in your abilities, your passion, and your purpose because what’s yours will always be yours. And what’s meant to be will always be.
Keep your purpose in mind
When the going gets tough — it’s always important to dig deep and remember why you’re working as hard as you are.
What are your plans? What are your goals? What do you want your future to look like? What mark do you wanna leave on those around you?
That is what will drive you, fuel you, and push you to keep grindin’ when you feel like you having nothing left.
As I continue to tackle this overwhelming semester — I’ll definitely look back on this post (once, twice…or twenty times to be honest) to help get me through.
I hope these tips help you out just as much.
Good luck and remember: we’re almost there, keep pushing!
